Dynamic Smart Showcase issue -- clicking on image won't load post

    hi, I love your dynamic smart showcase widget, but I noticed that clicking on the featured image of a post in the listing will lead to no action at all. The post doesn't load. It will load only when I click on the title of the post. Yet the mouse cursor shows a finger that indicates to visitors that the image is clickable and will lead to a post opening. Is there a fix for this? I'd like visitors to be able to open posts when they click on images.

    By the way, when I click on other meta info like the category, author, the listing just refreshes. I hope clicking on them will open a new listing with the same category or author, but that's not what is happening. Any quick fix or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi there,

    Thank you for contacting POSIMYTH support.

    As per our structure, there are multiple links in the layout. LIke Category Post, Date, Title.

    So we set separate clicks on particular forms.

    You can manage in the below file from your end.

    You can find the file on the following file path "wp-content\plugins\theplus_elementor_addon\includes\dynamic-smart-showcase"

    Thanks,

    Warm Regards,

    thanks for your prompt reply. I just opened the path and found these php files. Which one should I tweak and what would be the key word to search for in the file?

    Is it format-image.php? (it says:

    <?php
    global $post;
    $postid = get_the_ID();
    $featured_image_url = wp_get_attachment_url( get_post_thumbnail_id( get_the_ID() ) );

    if(! empty( $featured_image_url )){
    if((!empty($display_thumbnail) && $display_thumbnail=='yes') && !empty($thumbnail)){
    $featured_image=get_the_post_thumbnail_url(get_the_ID(),$thumbnail);
    }else{
    $featured_image=get_the_post_thumbnail_url(get_the_ID(),'full');
    }

    $featured_image='<img src="'.esc_url($featured_image).'" alt="'.esc_attr(get_the_title()).'">';

    }else{
    $featured_image=theplus_get_thumb_url();
    $featured_image=$featured_image='<img src="'.esc_url($featured_image).'" alt="'.esc_attr(get_the_title()).'">';
    }

    ?>
    <div class="blog-featured-image">
    <span class="thumb-wrap">
    <?php echo $featured_image; ?>
    </span>
    </div>

    //////////////////////

    Sorry I'm not familiar with php, but understand certain words can edited to make changes. I have attached an image of my list of php files in the path. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

    I have checked with our developers and have mentioned it will need some major custom coding and you can see in the attached screenshot that you need to remove the tag in each file as each file consists of different styles and layouts of the file dynamic widget.

    Furthermore, I would recommend that you please keep the backup of the original file before making any changes so that in case if there's any mishap you can upload the backup file on your server.

    Thanks,

    thanks, I've removed some hrefs in some of the files , disabling URL links in href associated with categories and authors. now, is there any chance you can provide instructions on how I can open posts by clicking on featured images?

    It seems inserting the following kind of line somewhere makes it possible to open a post with a click.

    <a href="<?php echo esc_url(get_the_permalink()); ?>" class="bss-meta-content-link">

    Is there a file where I can insert this and in which line so I can make clicking the image lead me to the post?

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

    I have checked with our developers and they have mentioned that you need to share the wp-admin login details so that they can check from their end.

    Note: Please make the reply private so that the details won't be shared with third-party users.

    Thanks,

    hi Deekshit, thanks for the offer. But I'd rather like it if I could fix this myself. I've figured out how to disable a category href, so it's just a matter of enabling a featured-image click. I'm just not able to find the right php file and the exact wording of the href line.

    I use Magazine Slider, Style-1, Carousel for Content Layout; Style 2 for Post Category Style and Style 1 for Display Post Meta. I have attached screenshots of my settings to this post. Could you share it with your developers and ask them if they can provide the right php file and a href line so I can stick it into the right php file?

    Or, if that's too much trouble, can they provide a way to disable the finger-click cursor when I place my cursor over the featured image?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi there,

    I understand what you are asking is important for your project but unfortunately, we don't do custom coding and as mentioned the changes are not limited to a single file.

    I recommend you can hire some third-party developer to accomplish the needs that you are looking for.

    Thanks,

    ah ok, I understand. I really think you should update that in your next patch though, so a click on a featured image or category  or author will lead to the post opening accordingly (or at least remove the hand cursor that leads nowhere, which misleads the visitors). Also it'd be great if you could allow visitors to open the post in a new window.

    If that's fixed, that'd be an awesome widget. It's too good to be left as it is with the glitch. For now I'll just stick with a different widget. Cheers and have a good weekend.
